Our mission at Katie Rainey Design is to craft exceptional waterfront homes and mountain view homes that
serve as serene retreats for our clients. Through a seamless design process and a commitment to integrity, we transform and build homes that are functional, elegant, and deeply connected to their natural surroundings. We strive to create spaces where families can thrive, make memories, and enjoy the beauty of
waterfront and mountain living.
I believe that beauty and function should be seamlessly woven together—because a home should not only be beautiful, but truly support the way you live. Before becoming an interior designer, I earned my doctorate in Physical Therapy and spent more than 15 years in the medical field. That education and experience profoundly shape the way I approach design. I studied how the body moves, adapts, and thrives in physical environments, which gives me a unique perspective on scale, flow, ergonomics, and how spaces truly function day to day. Today, I translate that knowledge into interiors that are not only timeless and elevated, but thoughtfully designed for real life.
I specialize in interior design for new builds and home remodels, partnering with busy professionals and families who are creating homes that serve as a retreat from demanding lives. My projects span from mountain retreats in New Hampshire to waterfront homes in the Annapolis area, each designed to reflect the landscape, lifestyle, and long-term needs of the people who live there. I guide my clients through every phase of the design process with clarity, intention, and a steady hand—removing stress while elevating the final result.
As part of a military family, I’ve lived across the United States and in Europe, drawing lasting inspiration from diverse architecture, cultures, and ways of living. Those experiences inform my design approach with a balance of refinement, comfort, and a strong sense of place.
When I’m not designing, you’ll find me staying active and enjoying the outdoors—whether practicing yoga, hiking, trail running, or snowboarding in the mountains. I’m a true fitness enthusiast and love sharing this active lifestyle with my husband, our three kids, and our golden retriever, Bodhi.
